Bradford-based theatre company Displace Yourself Theatre (DYT) is creating an opportunity for aspiring performers to take part in their performance this October, in preparation for City of Culture 2025.
The local theatre company is seeing enthusiastic volunteers to join their community chorus, where budding performers will get a chance to work alongside professional actors, dancers and singers as part of DYT’s playful, outdoor performance which will take place on Saturday, 12th October.
This exciting opportunity is open to everyone and no previous performance experience is necessary. Volunteers will get full training on how to be a playful member of DYT’s ensemble, while also getting a chance to partake in workshops led by their professional performers.
Mike Auger, Co-Director of DYT, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for young people and aspiring performers to take part in the lead up to City of Culture 2025, while also gaining invaluable experience and confidence. This special outdoor performance is a blend of live music and captivating multi-lingual storytelling brought together by a diverse community cast. Joining our community chorus is a chance to take part in the movement and singing that makes this show so unique and vibrant.”
Rehearsals will take place in Bradford City Centre in early October leading up to the performance. Refreshments will be provided at evening sessions and lunch at all-day sessions. Contributions towards travel costs are also available for anyone based outside the city centre.
Bradford residents aged sixteen and over are invited to apply by emailing, recording audio, or video with their name and a brief description about why they’d like to join the community chorus to hello@displaceyourselftheatre.co.uk by Sunday, 8th September.
