Displace Yourself Theatre work in collaboration with people who have experienced Displacement. This may mean someone displaced from their country, their family home, their friendship group or even from their body and emotions. On some level, perhaps we can all identify with being forcibly removed from something we belong to. It is this link, and this element of the human experience, which interests DYT and forms the basis of all our conversations, workshops, training, productions and creative sessions.
Since November 2016 we have been delivering Creating Together: regular Creative Wellbeing sessions where participants gain skills in a range of art forms. Creating Together is open to anyone who would benefit from a boost in confidence, exploring their own creative potential and is interested in working towards a more inclusive society.
Sessions are free to attend, and as well as taking part in a range of arts activities, lunch and refreshments are provided in order that everyone can share a meal together, meet new people and enjoy valuable social time together.
Creating Together has been delivered in Barnsley, Bradford, Camden, Deptford, Stockton, York and Sheffield. They’re completely free, you don’t need to have taken part in anything like this before, and if English is not your first language, don’t worry, we all support each other.
Right now, we’re in Bradford and Stockton every month. See below to join or read more about our current sessions:
